The history of film editing stretches back all the way to 1895 where the Lumiere Brothers had cinematographe which was the first real camera that could record moving imagery and project the footage. followed by that in 1901 Edwin S.Porter had been the first film maker to get and use the idea to film a sequence differently by filming a sequence and moving the camera. In film editing had been the first real source of editing before cutting film after it had been filmed for example in 1896 a film maker named Georges Méliès had been filming a bus going down a street but his camera appeared to have jammed, so he then attempted to film a carriage going down a road but later when he projected the footage, he realised that his camera jammed and he changed the image afterwards it looked like the bus had transformed into a carriage, creating the term know as 'jump cutting' later along in the world of film in 1920 had came what was known as Kuleshov Effect which had shown the first real representation of a film 'montage' Editing has allowed films now a days has grown into something that allows audience to be more interested in what is actually being translated on the screen through story telling aspects such narrative, actors shot variations/angles and many more. Films such as 'House of Darkness' by D.W Griffiths had in a way used these types of story telling methods by using fades and basic forms of editing such as cuts and transitions. But cinema over the years has clearly developed over years compared to this. These days the greatest debate in film which is problem the biggest transition film history is the Debate of Film and Digital. Ever since digital film editing had arrived in the late 90s ,the debate has lasted for over a decade now the general consensus of the debate is that film has always been the way we originally have always made movies and film makers still believe that its the more definitive way of filming, saying it looks better as a whole filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan have both confessed their love for film rather than digital. But the majority of film makers in this decade are creating film digitally because for many reasons; for one its a much easier process to film with digital, because with film can you record a whole session of scenes but you wont actually know what the film will entirely look like till the film has been formatted and printed but with digital you can already see what you are filming, it is easy knowing what will actually happen on camera and having that hindsight to see how you can improve, another reason is the expense of film, since film started becoming less popular its became a very rare entity and its very expensive to use on a production and for a final reason, filmmakers like to use digital because certain aspects cant be achieved through film because of certain aspects such as editing, lighting, colours and lots of on screen features. But as the debate still continues film seems to be dying as an aspect in the film industry. But as it stands many film makers are trying to keep film as an aspect in the 'Film' industry.
Immediately from the beginning of the scene we are given a establishing mid shot which shows Vinnie Jones character 'Bullet Tooth Tony' making a call to an unknown source, is then slightly panned to the left revealing three men in balaclavas thinking they are unknowingly approaching Tony, the shot is held continuously then is made into a tracking shot turning the shot into a an over the shoulder shot, showing the men directly speaking to Tony. The shot is then cut into another mid shot at the 0:38 mark showing the scenery of the pub they appear to be in, the fruit machine in a way stands out in this shot because its the only the only peace of scenery that has a different colour pallet, it having bright red and yellow buttons and lights.this small sequence here effects the audience in the way that it builds tension between the the four characters, so when the scene finally gives
The confrontation cutting between mid shot to mid shot to show dialogue between the characters, it then abruptly shows one of the men is about to hit tony with his pistol, then quickly cuts into a close up tony twisting the mans arm and then a close up to the mans face like in distress, this occurs at the 0:47 mark this is also know as a match cut on action,this is the peak of tension with the audience slightly breaking it because we see tony is more in control now because the shot had shown that therefore had power for being able to defend himself comfortably then it once again builds up when the dialogue and the scene progresses. then an event occurs where tony is suddenly put into the more powerful position because of the monologue currently happening, it is then shown by the camera work that Tony now has power, this done by first of all by a shot reverse shot, then a pan to the left followed by a close up to the gun, followed by an extreme close up to the gun in a tilted shot the Gun's first letter R is then show it quickly pans to the left showing each individual letter spelling REPLICA. the shot is then reversed with 180 degree rule, to show the exact same affect but instead with Tony's Gun Spelling DESERT EAGLE .5 give the acquired effect the whole scene was setting up, this all climaxes by the 2:40 mark.
As this monologue had started from 1:00 minute and finished on the 2:40 mark. while tony was continuing to speak each time it cut back to men in the balaclavas the camera was zooming in as the dialogue progressed reveling more each time it had zoomed in finally coming to its conclusion. A reaction shot is shown from all three of the men when all the monologue had ended. The POV shot is not used in this sequence but it is a shot which is used to show the perspective of the character through their own eyes making a better connection with the audience, it can also be a way of making the audience they are the character viewing this world through their eyes.
This sequence intrigues the audience so much because all these characters are featured throughout the majority of the story and this is is the first meeting between the characters, so when the tension is built because the film has built up to the meeting of these characters the tension filled sequence used through shots, angles and dialogue. This sequence of the film shows events actually happening which transpire in to more events which occur later in the film which tie in, this makes the audience become more intrigued as the sequence goes on.
Shot Variation
The first 3 minutes of the sequence contains mostly mid shots and close ups back and fourth between the characters. There is a match cut on action shot at 0:47 mark where a gun is shown being pulled back to it being grabbed by Tony.
Some long shots are used later into the sequence, for example at the 3:13 mark where the camera is slightly tilted show it can still keep the character 'Avi' in the frame into a mid shot whilst keeping the character 'Boris' in the frame as well in a long shot and 3:58 mark we see the two characters feeling in a long shot.

Construction of time and space
this sequence is set up like a three act it has three sections which are the 'Confrontation', 'The Realisation' and 'The Conclusion'. The Confrontation and The realisation take up the majority of the sequence, this is when the men attempt to ambush tony to when the dialogue finally ends putting tony in the power position, the aftermath of that situation is shown when the men attempt to steal the case of Avi and ends in a shoot out. This has a good effect audience because of have how well paced it is and the amount of the tension which is built in the first two parts have a pay off with the shoot out occurring.Cutaways
at the 3:07 there s multiple cutaways between the characters going , it starts off with the men trying to rob Avi, then to Tony over hearing the confrontation, it does this four times before tony finally interrupts the confrontation shooting up the other room through the walls.
