Research and planning for music videos

The song
the track I've chosen is a song by chance the rapper and it's called Cocoa butter kisses it came out in 2013 following the release of Chance the rapper's second mixtape 'Acid Rap'

analysis of the song
this song is more about meaning more than anything it doesn't really have a narrative to it. I found someones interpretation of the meaning on a
a reliable lyric website know as 'Genuis.com'

“Cocoa Butter Kisses” is about Chance turning into a man who repulses his mother. He misses the days when he still had his innocence and his mother used to give him sweet kisses. (https://genius.com/Chance-the-rapper-all-night-lyrics)

The song posses a large amount of questions towards how the way you act influences how your relatives see you and also the dangers of becoming addicted to substances in this circumstance smoking, this adds to the theme of the album 'acid rap' which is about growing up and the thinks you do and try as you become older. It also refers to drug use and relationship aswell establishing the type of person chance's mother would of hated him to become but this is what he is becoming

Artist research
Chance the rapper is Chicago born hip hop/ R 'N' B artist, who has released three mixtapes projects known as '10 day' 'Acid Rap' and 'Colouring Book'  which he has released completely free of charge for his fans. chance dresses unlike most typical rappers these days he wears simple trendy clothes like bomber jackets, hoodies, caps and t shirts. but in some videos and performances he tends to wear things such as dungarees and  tie dye hoodies. Chance does not tend to use any fashion  tropes for image such as makeup and ridiculous
outfits, this is mainly because chance has built up his reputation from pure skill and no other get ups.
Chance's existing videos to date fit a rather ridiculous and quirky tone to them for example in the video for 'Angels' he is seen flying through the air wearing overalls and big 'minion' esc goggles. another example of chance's quirky attitude towards his videos would be the video for 'Same drugs' which in overall tone is very sad but it keeps the ridiculous tone his videos usually share because it shows a television station which is completely ran by muppets.

Chances locations he uses in his videos mainly consists of his city Chicago, he tends to use this because the majority of the time the singles which are chosen for videos talk about how chance is to make his city into a better place, he says this in lyrics from songs such as angels where he says "I got city doing front flips, when every father, rapper, mayor jump ship, I guess they call where I stay, clean up the streets so I have somewhere for my daughter to play"
